The workshop will take place at the Technical University of Catalonia, located in the Campus Nord (North Campus), street Jordi Girona, 1-3, 08034 Barcelona, Spain.

UPC is in position 34 worldwide in the subject of Civil and Structural Engineering in the QS World University Rankings by Subject (2018 Edition), in position 8 within European Universities and is the first in Spain.
UPC has around 31,000 students in 65 bachelor programs, 73 master programs and 49 doctoral programs. The School of Civil Engineering has around 2000 total students, the approximate distributions is as follows: 1000 in bachelor programs, 500 in master programs and 500 in Ph.D. programs.
The workshop on 27th of September will take place in the room C1-002 (Sala de Tesinas), ground floor of building C1. The exact rooms assigned to the WG meetings on the 28th of September will be communicated later depending on the number of participants.

Frequent trams, buses and metro run from the city center to the University North Campus (Jordi Girona 1-3). Further information can be obtained in www.tmb.cat.
Line 9 of the Metro gives direct connection from the Airport (terminals 1 and 2) to the North Campus, Station “Zona Universitaria”, the last station in the line 9. Journey time is around 40 minutes.
Tickets can be bought in self-service vending machines.
A useful link for airway connections to Barcelona is: www.aeropuertobarcelona-elprat.com It provides direct (traditional and low-cost) flights to many European cities.
Barcelona taxis (yellow & black) are available at the arrival terminals. A taxi ride to the city center costs around 30 € (ask in advance the taxi driver if you plan to pay with credit card).
Airport Station: The train station is connected to Terminal T2 through a footbridge placed between terminals T2A and T2B. From Terminal T1 get the shutle bus (free service) to Terminal T2.

The eighth workshop of COST Action TU1406 “Quality specifications for roadway bridges, standardization at a European level” (< href="https://www.tu1406.eu" >www.tu1406.eu), will be held in Barcelona, Spain, at the Technical University of Catalonia on 27th and 28th of September 2018.
In the first year of COST Action TU1406 the main focus was on the screening process of existing European documents and establishing a database for PIs. The second year of the project was focused on technical and non-technical bridge performance goals, followed by the establishment of quality control plans, applications to case studies and recommendations for guidelines in the third year.
The workshop will be dedicated to the following topics:
- Methods and experiences of bridge Life-cycle Assessment;
- Establishment of Quality control plans;
- Quality control measurements, techniques and methods;
- Applications to Case Studies;
- Guidelines for implementation of Quality Control Plans;
- Quality control and standardization;
- Bridge management systems.
During the 2-day workshop, selected manuscripts will be presented and discussed, followed by WG4, WG5, IAB (Industry Advisory Board) and Innovative Subgroup meetings.
